The Graduate Certificate in Applied Music (performance, composition and conducting) is a degree program that provides concentrated study for students with a bachelor’s degree in music. The Certificate program includes 9 units of required course work and 3 units of electives. The units earned in the Certificate may be applied to the Master of Music degree.

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Applied Music (performance, composition, and conducting) is a degree program that provides concentrated study for students with a bachelor’s degree in music.
The Certificate program will include 9 units of required coursework and 3 units of electives. Applicants will be screened by the department of music’s audition process for graduate students. Those wishing to later apply for the Master of Music in Performance or Composition may apply up to 12 graduate units from the PBC towards the program with the approval of the MM Program Director. Units that could apply include applied lessons, ensembles, and elective courses at the 500- and 600-level. If course work from the PBC is applied toward the MM, the seven year time limit for completing the MM degree begins with the first course taken toward the PBC.

The learning outcomes for the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Applied Music differ by concentration. These outcomes are demonstrated in MUSC 699, the Post Baccalaureate Certificate Recital.
