Accessibility and Disability Services (ADS) is committed to promoting access and inclusion at Towson University.  Our staff is dedicated to supporting students with various physical or mental conditions that substantially limit one or more life activities.  We work closely with students, faculty, and staff through an interactive process to determine and implement reasonable accommodations that eliminate or reduce disability-related barriers.

Reasonable accommodations are intended to provide a qualified student with a disability equal access to the university’s courses, programs, and activities.  Accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis and may include testing accommodations, note-taking assistance, interpreting services, alternative formats for printed materials, assistive technology, priority registration, paratransit services, internship, and residential accommodations.

Students register with ADS by submitting an ADS application along with disability documentation and by completing an intake interview with an ADS specialist.  Students may register with ADS at any time during their academic career; however, we encourage them to register with ADS as soon as possible after they are enrolled in the university.

Students registered with the ADS office should maintain regular contact with their ADS specialist to discuss their academic progress.  This contact provides the opportunity for ADS staff to help students proactively identify and address problems that may arise. We can also help students with organization and study skills, self-advocacy, navigating various university procedures as well as connect students with other resources on and off campus.

Students are welcome to call or visit the ADS office. We are available to answer questions regarding how to register with ADS, the required disability documentation and the types of accommodations and services offered.
