LGBT 101 INTRODUCTION TO LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENDER STUDIES (3)

Interdisciplinary and cross-cultural examination of sexual orientation. Course topics include institutionalized heterosexism and homophobia, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) identities, communities, culture, and political activism. Students who have successfully completed IDIS 101 or LGST 101 will not receive additional credit for LGBT 101. Core: Diversity & Difference.

LGBT 381 READINGS IN LGBT STUDIES (1-3)

A survey of relevant research literature under the guidance of a staff member who will direct the student's research. May be repeated for 6 units. Prerequisite: 6 hours of course work in the LGBT minor or consent of instructor.

LGBT 470 SPECIAL TOPICS IN LGBT STUDIES (3)

Survey and critical examination of current research and literature in LGBT studies. May be repeated for a maximum of 9 units with a different topic. Prerequisite: LGBT 101 or consent of instructor.

LGBT 485 INTERNSHIP IN LGBT STUDIES (3-6)

Supervised internship experience in the field of LGBT Studies under the direction of a faculty member. May be repeated for a maximum of 9 units, but only 6 units can be applied to the LGBT minor. Prerequisite: 6 units of course work in the LGBT minor or consent of instructor.

LGBT 491 INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATIONS IN LGBT STUDIES (3)

Research problems under the direction of a faculty member. May be repeated for a maximum of 6 units. Prerequisite: 6 hours of course work in the LGBT minor, or consent of instructor.
